REFORM association participated on December 19th and 20th, 2012, in the conference organised by I-WATCH and entitled “Security Sector in Tunisia: Status and Prospects”.

The conference aimed to resume the police reform initiatives that started after the revolution, and to engage civil society experts as well as the international community through creating a fruitful debate and asking the right questions to the right people.
The event targeted national and international civil society actors: organisations, activists, journalists, bloggers, victims, and whistleblowers. The event also included different panel discussions.
The more specific purpose of the event was:
  1. To gather all stakeholders from within the country and from abroad to debate challenges facing police reform and methods to deal with it
  2. Engage Tunisian citizens and give them a platform to make their voices heard, assisted by experts
  3. Bring together on the same table, the different key figures in security sector reform for the first time after a year and half of working individually
  4. Develop a collective, inclusive strategy for reform including all stakeholders
